Dear Colleagues,
It is a great honor and pleasure to invite you to take part in the 2nd International Conference on Natural Products and Physiologically Active Substances and the 3rd EuroAsian Heterocyclic Meeting “Heterocycles in Organic and Combinatorial Chemistry”, which will be held in Novosibirsk from September 12 to September 17, 2004.

The conferences will feature Plenary and Invited Lectures, Oral Communications and Poster Presentations. 

Novosibirsk, having a population of 1.5 million citizens, is ranked third among the biggest cities in Russia. It is the youngest megacity in the world. Novosibirsk Scientific Center («Akademgorodok») is the real center of scientific research in Siberia, it is an excellent starting point for visiting other places of interest in Siberia. 

On behalf of the Organizing Committee I invite you to attend the meetings, to convey and discuss the results of your research.

Tour to Altai mountains (wonderful innocent nature), September 17-21

One day boat excursion on the Ob Sea, September 18

Besides there will be excursions to the Novosibirsk City, «Akademgorodok», Museums, Opera Theater, concerts and shows given by folklore theaters, some sport events.

Call for papers, submission of abstracts

All participants are invited to present Posters at the Conferences on their recent research. The Organizing Committee will select a limited number of Posters for Oral Communications. 

Participants wishing to present a Poster or an Oral Communication will need to send an e-mail with rtf-file abstract attached on our address conference@nioch.nsc.ru by July 01, 2004. The format and guidelines for submitting the Abstract are described below. Paper copies of abstracts by ordinary mail are unacceptable. 

Notifications of selection of Abstracts as Oral Presentations will be mailed to the author by August 01, 2004. 

Conference publications 

A Book of Abstracts containing abstracts of all lectures and posters will be distributed free of charge to all participants upon registration at the Conference desk. The electronic versions of the abstracts will be placed to the Conference Home Page and will be available via Internet as soon as they are accepted.

Full papers based on the plenary and invited lectures as well as on the selected oral and actual poster presentations will be published in the special issue of Molecules - A Journal of Synthetic Chemistry and Natural Product Chemistry. 

All the plenary and invited speakers are kindly asked to prepare full papers according to the Instructions for Authors and send to the Scientific Secretary at earliest convenience. 

After the abstracts of poster and oral presentations are accepted, the organizers will informed the authors to prepare full papers based on the selected oral and actual poster presentations. The full papers prepared in accordance with the Instructions should be sent to the Scientific Secretary by September 17, 2004.

Abstracts, Instructions for Authors

The abstract (no longer than 1 page) should be prepared in English in the Microsoft Word format and may include any graphics, pictures, formulas, schemes, etc. Preferable editor for chemical drawings is ChemDraw from the ChemOffice package.

The abstract should be prepared on paper of A4 (21.0 x 29.7cm) size with 3 cm margins.

The abstract should start with the title, author(s)' name(s) and address followed by the main body of the abstract. The title should be centred and in bold 16pt Times Roman with initial capital letters. The name(s) of the author(s) (including the first name, middle initial(s) and family name) should be centred and in normal 12pt Times Roman, with the name of the presenting author underlined. The author’s full address (ital 10pt Times Roman) should be centred; fax number and E-mail address are desirable.

The text of the abstracts should be in normal 12pt Times Roman (1.2-1.5 line spacing). All figures should be located within the text at the appropriate positions.

The electronic version of the abstract should be sent as an attached file by e-mail to the Conference Secretariat no later than 1 July 2004. Abstracts received by fax are unacceptable. Abstracts received later or not prepared according to these instructions may not be included in the book of abstracts.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Visas

Non-residents of the Russian Federation attending the Conferences are required to have both a valid passport and a visa. Participants should check with their local travel agents visa requirements for travel to Russia. To get visa a participant should fill in the Visa Application Form and return it to the Conference Secretariat. The Organizers will prepare the official invitation and send it to the participant. Such a letter will allow the participant to get visa at the local Russian Embassy (Consulate).

Insurance

Please arrange your own travel and health insurance. The organizers will not be held liable for occasional accidents. 

Letter of invitation

On request, the Conference Secretary will be happy to send a personal invitation for participation in the Conferences. It should be understood that such an invitation is only to help participants to raise travel funds in their own countries or to obtain the visa. Such an invitation is not a commitment on the part of the organizers to provide financial support. 

Exhibitions

An exhibition will be organized alongside the Conferences. It will be held in a hall next to the conference rooms. Contacting the Conference Secretariat can make arrangements for exhibitions space rental.

Venue

The Conference will take place in the resort situated in beautiful pine woodland on the shore of the Ob Sea several km far from the Novosibirsk Scientific Center and about 30 km far from the Novosibirsk downtown.
