Chemistry of Natural Products and Physiologically Active Substances is one of the most important field of organic chemistry and is the basis of many exciting new developments in production of drugs, vitamins, agroche- micals. Scientific research on the chemistry of Natural Products and Physiologically Active Substances gives a powerful incentive to progress in the art of creative synthesis of complex molecules, in the development of new techniques for isolation of useful natural products and instruments and methods for structural analysis of organic molecules. The conference will feature Plenary and Invited Lectures, Section Lectures, Oral Communications and Poster Presentations. Novosibirsk, having a population of 1.5 million citizens, is ranked third among the biggest cities in Russia. Novosibirsk Scientific Center («Akademgorodok») is the real center of scientific research in Siberia, it is an excellent starting point for visiting other places of interest in Siberia. On behalf of the Organizing Committee I invite you to participate in the International Conference on Natural Products and Physiologically Active Substances and to convey and discuss the results of your research. I look forward to seeing you in Novosibirsk. Genrikh A. The Organizing Committee will select a limited number of Posters for Oral Communications. Participants wishing to present a Poster or an Oral Communication will need to send the original typed camera-ready Abstract and a photocopy, to the Scientific Secretariat by July 31, 1998. Authors who would like their Poster to be considered for an Oral Communication should indicate this on the Registration Form (Form A). Notification of acceptance of the Poster Abstract and selection as an Oral Presentation will be mailed to the author by August 15, 1998. The format and guidelines for submitting the Abstract are described below. ABSTRACTS, INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS The abstract should be prepared as a hard copy as well as in electronic form. The abstract, submitted as a 1 page camera-ready copy, must be prepared on good quality paper of A4 (21.0 x 29.7cm) size. The abstract should be of laser printer quality. All graphics and the text must be placed in an image area of 18.75cm wide by 26cm high. Margins to create this image area from standard A4 size paper are: Top - 1.91cm, Bottom - 1.27cm, Left - 1.1cm, Right - 1.1cm. The camera-ready abstract should start with the title, author(s)' name(s) and address followed by the main body of the abstract. The title should be centered and in bold 16pt Times Roman with initial capital letters. You will explore history of Tomsk. The city was called «Siberian Athens» due to positive impact to cultural development of Siberia at the beginning of this century. Historical downtown gives a good impression of life during that period - a number of unique ornamented timber houses is a «visiting card» of Tomsk. You will also be guests in one of Tomsk fine restaurants for an authentic Siberian meal. A detailed schedule of the tour will be posted at the Registration Desk. The cost of this tour is 205 USD and includes transportation, accommodation, meals, and some excursions.
