4th International Conference on Nitroxide Radicals:
Synthesis, Properties and Implications of Nitroxides
(SPIN-2005)

Invitation

Dear Colleagues,

After three successful meetings in Pécs 1979, Novosibirsk 1989 and Kaiserslautern 2001 we are proud to inform you that the "4th International Conference on Nitroxide Radicals: Synthesis, Properties and Implications of Nitroxides (SPIN-2005)" will be held on September 20-24, 2005 in Akademgorodok, Novosibirsk, Russia. The meeting (SPIN-2005) will be hosted by Novosibirsk Institute of Organic Chemistry in cooperation with International Tomography Center, Institute of Chemical Kinetics & Combustion and Novosibirsk State University.
The aim of the Conference is to bring together scientists dealing with nitroxide radicals and EPR and to stimulate interchange with ideas and opinions, thus providing mutual benefits and further progress in the field. All participants are supposed not only to present exciting scientific results, but also to learn about the latest advances in the related areas.
SPIN-2005 will cover all aspects of chemistry and application of nitroxide radicals. They include:

EPR spectroscopy of nitroxides: new methodologies
synthesis
site-directed spin labeling
nitroxides in chemistry, biochemistry, biomedicine and polymer sciences
molecule-based magnets
spin trapping
NO donors and EPR NO detection

The venue of the Conference will be The House of Scientists (Dom Uchonykh), a center of social life of Akademgorodok.
We look forward to seeing you in Novosibirsk at SPIN-2005.

Geographical Position

NOVOSIBIRSK, the third largest city of Russia, is situated in the heart of Russia, in Siberia. The history of Novosibirsk has begun in 1893 when the first railway bridge through river Ob was built up, and it officially became a town in 1903. Until 1925, Novosibirsk was called Novonikolayevsk, after the Tzar Nicholaus II of Russia. At present, Novosibirsk is an industrial, cultural and educational centre of Russia. Manufacturing includes mining equipment, turbines, textiles, chemicals, heavy machine tools, metallurgy. It is the home of one of Russia's best universities, a number of research institutions and a scientific research centre. Novosibirsk prides with opera and ballet companies, several theatres, museums, and art galleries, and numerous sports facilities. Novosibirsk is the third city in Russia (after Moscow and St. Petersburg) in which a subway system was established (The Novosibirsk Metro, opened in 1985). South of central part of the city (about 30 km) is Akademgorodok – Novosibirsk Research Center, the main unit of Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Science. It is built on the shore of the Ob Sea, a man-made reservoir on the river Ob, and surrounded with a majestic birch and pine forest. There are Novosibirsk State  University, 35 research institutions, Agricultural Academy, Medical Academy, apartment houses and cottages, and a variety of community amenities including stores, hotels, hospitals, restaurants and cafés, cinemas, clubs and libraries located within Akademgorodok.
