Giancarlo Cravotto
"I graduated in 1979 from the University of Torino and I did post-doctoral work in Ghent (Belgium) with Prof. P. DeClercq on the total synthesis of gibberellic acid. Since 1986 I have a tenured position at the University of Torino, where I (will) became Professor in November or December of this year. In 1991 I received the Rhone-Poulenc-Rorer award of the Phytochemical Society of Europe for my research on the chemistry of medium-sized cyclic natural products. My field of research is the isolation, chemical modification and total synthesis of natural products, especially diterpenoids and prenylated coumarins. The classes of compounds I have been more active are those of the ICNPAS lecture, that is taxoids and phorboids. I have written 5 book chapters and I am the author and co-author of ca. 130 publications." |
